New Britain, Conn., October 1, 2002 - The Stanley
Works is proud to announce it has been named the 2002 Golden Hammer
Innovator of the Year by Home Channel News. The award recognizes the
company that demonstrates the best research and design work in the overall
development of innovative and ergonomically designed home improvement
products.
The Golden Hammer awards annually recognize the suppliers
that demonstrate the greatest overall commitment in support of home
center and building material dealers throughout the country. This year,
awards were given to those vendors that excelled in important disciplines,
and best reflect the issues critical to effective supplier/retailer
partnerships.
In addition to being named Innovator of the Year, Stanley
received three additional Golden Hammer awards in each of the following
performance areas. Category Management (hand tools), New Products (hand
tools), and Communications (Preview Dealer Merchandiser Program). This
marks the fourth consecutive year Stanley has been honored with a Golden
Hammer award.
"Stanley is honored to be continually recognized
as an elite supplier and leader in innovation," said Gary van Deursen,
Vice President of Innovation and Design for Stanley. "We are grateful
to receive a Golden Hammer award for the fourth year in a row. Although
this award was given to The Stanley Works, the people within the New
Britain area should also take pride in this achievement. With a 159
year partnership in place both Stanley and New Britain represent a significant
part of the home improvement and home building industries."
The Stanley Design and Engineering Team has developed
many award-winning products during the past three years and the company
